An understandable explanation of why SOPA and POPS...
SOPA and PIPA require that ISPS block access to infringing websites. Blocking access to websites on the internet, for an entire country worth of people, is damn near impossible. The bills suck because they address the problem in the wrong way; the right thing to do is target the infringing sites themselves (and their support, in the form of payment processors and advertising companies), rather...

Lamar Smith, SOPA & Luke 6:41 →
Something about Lamar Smith, author of SOPA, not obeying existing copyright laws reminded me of this quotation, from the KJV: “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”

A great piece from Bloomberg detailing the FBI’s investigation and subsequent sting operation that has landed several hedge fund managers in the slammer; the parallels with investigations into organized crime families are, if not shocking, at least compelling.

I’m a huge Muppets fan, and so this First Listen featuring OK GO, Weezer, My Morning Jacket, and a host of other acts covering classic Muppets tunes is right up my alley. If there’s anyone in Hollywood I would trust to make a new Muppets movie, it’s Jason Segel; for once, someone in the biz agrees with me and has hired him to do just that.  Check out the trailer here; the movie...

Attention Miami Fans: You may need to find a new rooting interest; if so, George O’Leary recommends UCF. Bank of America Gets Pad Locked After Homeowner... →
This is great - BOA refuses to pay a judgment owed on a wrongful foreclosure verdict, so the plaintiffs in the suit enlisted the Sheriff’s Office and had Sheriff’s deputies execute the warrant on a local branch. In what the homeowners’ attorney called “sweet justice”, the bank cut a check for the judgment amount after approximately one hour.

Mark Cuban’s attorney filed this motion in a 2010 case by former Maverick’s owner Ross Perot Jr. (through Hillcrest Investment Services III); Mr. Perot’s case hinges on claims of reckless mismanagement of the franchise by Mark Cuban (and his company).
